Despite a public commitment to halve Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), the Budget made no mention of VAWG and provided no additional funding for the specialist organisations supporting women and children across the UK.

At a time when demand is at record levels and services are already facing closure, this omission has real-world consequences: longer waiting lists, reduced support, and in some areas, the risk of services disappearing altogether. The impact is felt most sharply by ‘by and for’ Black, minoritised and migrant women’s organisations, who continue to face structural disadvantage and chronic underfunding despite being essential, and often the only, safe spaces available to many victim-survivors.

Our joint statement outlines the urgent action required if the government is serious about halving VAWG, including national ring-fenced funding, multi-year investment, and equitable commissioning models that recognise the critical role played by specialist services.
