Imkaan VAWG COVID-19 Fund

We are pleased to launch Imkaan’s VAWG COVID-19 Fund supported by Comic Relief and National Emergencies Trust to provide funding to the BME specialist by and for ending VAWG sector.

Comic Relief recognises that “the impact of Coronavirus is not the same for everyone and that for certain underserved and/or minoritized communities the experience of Covid 19 is very different. Pre-existing inequalities are being exacerbated by the pandemic and some communities who are marginalised and disadvantaged have a number of intersecting issues that increase their risk of being affected by CV19.”

To address underlying inequalities, to ensure reach to grassroots organisations and community-led development Comic Relief established an initiative to develop fund intermediaries. Imkaan was awarded by Comic Relief to serve as Fund Intermediary for the BME VAWG fund.

Imkaan has been awarded £400,000 to allocate to the BME specialist by and for ending VAWG sector. Funds will be allocated to support BME women’s refuges and frontline services.

The closing date for applications was 9 October 2020.
