IMKAAN VAWG COVID-19 FUND ROUND 2
December 07, 2020
We are pleased to launch Round 2 of Imkaan’s VAWG COVID-19 Fund supported by Comic Relief and National Emergencies Trust to provide funding to the specialist Black and minoritised by and for ending VAWG sector.
Comic Relief recognises that “the impact of Coronavirus is not the same for everyone and that for certain underserved and/or minoritised communities the experience of COVID 19 is very different. Pre-existing inequalities are being exacerbated by the pandemic and some communities who are marginalised and disadvantaged have a number of intersecting issues that increase their risk of being affected by CV19.”
To address underlying inequalities and to ensure reach to Black and minoritised women’s grassroots organisations Comic Relief established an initiative to develop fund intermediaries. Imkaan was awarded by Comic Relief to serve as Fund Intermediary for the BME VAWG fund.
After completing the first round of awards, we are now opening Round 2. Applications to this round should focus on delivering work around specific under-represented issues that normally do not get the funding they deserve. These issues could include work you do under an intersectional approach addressing VAWG that could cover the needs of migrant women, disabled women, older women and abuse, young women and girls among other intersecting needs.
We will operate a two-stage application process. Stage 1 will cover the ideas you have to address specific categories of need for a particular group of women. If your proposal is successful at Stage 1, then you will be invited to submit the full application. We encourage you to complete Stage 1 of the application process as soon as possible.
The fund is open for applications on 7 December 2020.
The closing date for Stage 1 applications is 5.00PM on 11 January 2021.
Late applications will not be accepted.
We encourage specialist by and for Black and minoritised women and girls organisations who have not already been funded under Round 1 of the Imkaan VAWG COVID 19 Fund to consider submitting an application around specialist areas of work.
